CONNECTED THROUGH CAPSPIRE CULTURE

Four smiling faces fill the tiles on a video meeting, and capSpire’s global recruiting team is once again united. Two sit in Dallas, Texas, a teammate in Cork, Ireland, and another in Bangalore, India. Separated by oceans, the team is connected by a common goal: finding the best possible talent to join capSpire. It’s a satisfying task, challenging at times, and always a lot of fun.

“We’re adding to a supportive, autonomous environment, looking for teammates who can mentor people and support each other in their work,” explains Micayla Ramage, who has been recruiting for the company in Texas for about 3.5 years.

PEOPLE OVER PROFITS

Since its founding in 2009, capSpire has always been a culture-first company. Providing global advisory services, implementing new technologies and processes, and offering operational support to ensure continuous improvement across the energy and commodity industries, capSpire is guided by a commitment to finding a better way to do things.

For Devinna O’Mahony, based in Ireland, who’s been on the team for nearly three years, it’s about adding value and putting people over profits. “In the recruitment process, this is very important because you can get caught up in filling roles and hitting quotas,” Devinna says.

“We care about the people we bring into this company,” adds Taylor Hauger, who’s been recruiting at capSpire out of the Dallas office for going on two years. It’s not just about the candidates, though. The team also cares about each other. “No one faces a challenge alone. We are always connecting, chatting, and brainstorming different ways to figure out difficult situations.”

The team agrees it’s rare for companies to prioritize their people over profits. But for this band of capSpire recruiters, this principle drives their day-to-day activities.

A POSITIVE EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE

“Many candidates are drawn to the company because of the positive experiences shared by our employees,” explains teammate Srushti Mahesh, who’s been with the company for over two years and lives in Bangalore. “Often, candidates are acquaintances of our current team members, which means they already have an understanding of our collaborative, supportive, and growth-oriented culture even before joining the hiring process.”

The recruiting team itself not only embodies capSpire culture but is charged with finding folks around the globe who have the right skill set on paper and the humility, a supportive attitude, and a positive outlook that are non-negotiable for prime candidates. At capSpire, everyone is a helper, and the recruiting team must find experts who check these boxes.

SIGNED, SEALED, SATISFIED

When those boxes are checked, and the offer letter is presented and signed, it’s the most fulfilling part of Devinna, Micayla, Srushti, and Taylor’s roles in capSpire recruiting.

“When you know someone is entering their dream job, then seeing them fitting in well at the company, getting their promotions, I think, ‘I hired you! You’re achieving!’ That’s where the success is for me,” explains Devinna.

FINDING FUN ALONG THE WAY

Over the course of the conversation with the recruiting team, each teammate used the same word about recruiting for capSpire and working for the company: fun.

According to Micayla, seeing candidate relationships evolve, then hopefully seeing them walk through the front door on their first day, is fun. For Taylor, even one of her own interviews to join the company, a casual chat over breakfast with Micayla, was enjoyable.

From working closely as a team virtually and in-person, building relationships with top-notch candidates, connecting over lunch, or meeting for the first time at a retreat, the recruiting team finds delight in it all.
