We’re excited to announce that Richard Cole has joined capSpire as our newest Principal Consultant! Richard brings deep expertise, strong leadership, and a passion for solving complex challenges in the energy and commodities industry, making him a fantastic addition to the capSpire team.
Richard has over 18 years of experience in the Energy & Commodity / ETRM space. He spent 15 years at ION, where he led onsite implementation teams and helped build their offset development model from the ground up. Most recently, he served as IT Manager at EQT Corporation, overseeing the Commercial Desk.
Through his time at ION, Richard worked with a wide array of companies around the globe, gaining broad insight into the energy and commodities industry. Among his proudest achievements is helping grow an offset development organization from just a few individuals to a team of over 75.
As Principal Consultant at capSpire, Richard will serve as an Openlink Commodities* SME, playing a key role in supporting our sales initiatives, leading client engagements, and helping our customers enhance their day-to-day operations.

Richard’s core expertise lies in Openlink Commodities* and commodity trading operations, with a strong background in IT systems. He’s passionate about tackling challenges that lead to real-world improvements, whether through technical problem-solving or strategic leadership.
A natural big-picture thinker, Richard moves fast, prioritizing major issues and driving action. He values collaboration that’s focused and effective, preferring to keep meetings purposeful and outcomes oriented. For him, it’s all about working with good people to get great things done.
Richard is based in Houston, Texas. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching youth baseball, playing golf, and camping. While he doesn’t claim any secret talents, we’re looking forward to learning more fun facts as he settles into capSpire life.
Richard is most excited about contributing to the growth and development of the capSpire team. He’s eager to begin building out automation and solution packages that will help capSpire compete more effectively in the market—delivering faster, smarter outcomes for our clients.
